MBC at Christmas 2025
Sunday 30 November 10.00am: The Christmas season begins with our morning service on Sunday 30 November, the first Sunday in Advent. This service will include communion, and Danny will begin our preaching series on “Jesus, hope of the nations: The Word became flesh and dwelt among us”. Scott Coles will lead our sung worship.
Advent Carols sung at the Market Cross 4.30pm: This will be led by MBC musicians and the Minch Community Choir. The event is promoted by Churches Together in Minchinhampton and Minch Life. Please note that the High Street and Bell Lane will be closed to traffic 4.00pm – 6.00pm. There will be a bar outside The Crown from 4.00pm, with carols at 4.30pm and the switching on of the Christmas tree lights at 5.00pm, followed by further singing. (NB Carols will not be sung inside The Crown this year.) If you are able to help steward the road closure for this event, please contact Nigel Stapleton 07760 888282 or nigel.stapleton@minchbc.org.uk
Saturday 6 December Cheese and Wine 7.00pm: This is a fun evening to which all aged 18+ are invited! Soft drinks will also be available and there will be various Christmas quizzes to enjoy. Thanks to Jan Allen and Sue Beattie for organising this event for us! This is a ticketed event and tickets at £10 per person will be available on Sunday 23 and Sunday 30 November at church. Payment for these should be made on the night. Tickets may also be reserved and payment made on the night but, in order to help with the catering, numbers must be known in advance. The deadline for booking is Sunday 30 November.
Sunday 7 December: Second Sunday in Advent. We meet for worship at 10.00am when Agnes Grace will lead our sung worship and Danny will continue the theme of “Jesus, hope of the nations: the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
Sunday 14 December: Roving Nativity! Third Sunday in Advent. Please note that there will be NO morning service at MBC. Instead, we encourage everyone to join in the Roving Nativity that will take place in Minchinhampton, starting at MBC and ending in the Undercroft of the Market House. This is an outreach event which, we trust, will be of interest to the wider community. There will be three ‘performances’ at 4.30pm, 6.00pm and 7.30pm, with the main actors provided for us. The event promises to be an exciting and different way to share the Christmas story. There is an online signup sheet on the home page of the MBC website.
Friday 19 December: Reflective service 7.30pm at MBC. This is an opportunity for us to take time out amid the busy-ness of the Christmas season and offers a way to celebrate Christmas quietly for those who find this time of year difficult.
Sunday 21 December: Candlelight Carols 5.00pm. The service will feature carols old and new and will end with mince pies and mulled wine. Again, please note there will be NO morning service at MBC.
Wednesday 24 December: Firepit carols 5.00pm. Meet at the back of the church for open-air carols around the firepit (weather permitting!), hot chocolate and marshmallows.
Christmas Day: We meet for a short all-age service at 10.00am to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. Please note that this service will not be live streamed, and there will be no refreshments served at the end.
