Finances
MBC finances all its activities by the voluntary giving of its members and congregation. As a general principle, our activities are free of charge and open to everyone, though occasionally we make a token charge for some of the social activities and for some of the midweek children's clubs. We don't get any money from any central fund.
And we believe in being generous to others. In recent years, over 50% of the money collected at church has gone to causes outside our own church, some of them connected with missionary work overseas, some with local evangelism, and some with humanitarian relief in the third world. The missionaries we support include church-planters and relief workers, some of whom work in politically sensitive parts of the world. We also support organisations like BMS World Mission, WEBA Home Mission and Tearfund.
We're a Registered Charity (number 1126338) and also recognised as a charity by the Inland Revenue, which means that we can operate Gift Aid and reclaim Income Tax on gifts made by taxpayers and make them worth 25% more at no extra cost to the donor. Now, that's a good scheme! We're also registered to receive donations via CAFCard and Give As You Earn.
