What sort of church are we?

Minchinhampton Baptist Church is part of the Christian Church in Minchinhampton. We co-operate enthusiastically with our friends in the Parish Church, sharing in joint initiatives especially at Christmas, Easter and on Remembrance Sunday.

The Bible shows us that God is a God of relationships. The Holy Trinity demonstrates the relationship between God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus showed us the importance of relationships with his twelve disciples, and his special relationship with Peter, James and John. Church life should reflect this. So, from time to time…

  • We organise social events that provide people an opportunity to have fun and get to know each other in a non-threatening environment.
  • We offer introductory courses geared to the needs of those seeking to explore Christianity. These usually centre around food and refreshments and provide opportunities for questions and discussion.
  • We provide a range of worship and learning activities suitable for all age-groups.
  • We encourage a deepening understanding of the Christian faith and an increasing commitment to Jesus Christ.
We're a friendly and relaxed community. We're used to welcoming visitors, and nothing will happen in church life to embarrass you or make you feel ill at ease. Next to nobody wears "Sunday best" clothes to church any more, not even the preacher!

We enjoy singing to God's praise. Our talented musicians lead us in modern worship songs, sometimes upbeat and triumphant, sometimes quiet and reflective. Occasionally, we make use of one of the older, more traditional hymns. But you won't find a robed choir, anthems or a pipe organ. It's more likely to be a saxophone and synthesizer.
