What we believe

We believe that God is as real today as he ever has been. Around 2000 years ago he spectacularly showed his love to humankind when he sent his son Jesus into the world to live and to die for us. God continues to offer his love to us today, and he continues to touch and change the lives of those who are open to him.

The Bible says, “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” We aim to do that every Sunday. Sometimes in the words of the great old hymns of the Christian faith, sometimes with contemporary new songs. Sometimes with up-beat celebratory worship and sometimes in quiet reflection and thankfulness for God’s continuing involvement in our lives.

We believe that the Bible is God’s (relevant) Word to us today. So what we teach and how we aim to live centres around that. We are continually discovering that new friends to our church are amazed at how relevant the Bible is to modern-day living.

God wants to meet us where we’re at. We’ve discovered that, when we make room for God in our busy lives, we ourselves and those around us all reap the benefit.

We try to hold the Bible in one hand and today's newspaper in the other, and to make the link between God's truth, with doesn't change, and our constantly-changing world with all its dilemmas.

Preaching at MBC is always Biblical, thought-provoking, memorable and life-related. The Bible teaches that God is gracious and giving, full of love and truth. Joy and laughter are God’s gifts to us. At MBC we try to reflect this. We truly see God changing people’s lives, bringing wholeness and hope, restoring joy and peace, providing focus and purpose.
