Vision and values
VisionWe exist to help people of all age-groups commit themselves to Jesus and thereafter develop as together we…
- Worship – through meeting together for praise and celebration
- Belong – by becoming part of a local church family
- Grow – by becoming more and more like Jesus
- Serve – by working for Jesus in his church
- Connect – by sharing and showing the reality of Jesus’ love with the people we meet
Our vision is to become a church of missional communities, where the mission of God becomes the "organising, or catalysing, principle" around which all our other church activities occur. The vital ingredients of worship, fellowship and discipleship all happen, as they grow out of the church’s mission.
ValuesAt MBC we seek to be...
- Welcoming - whoever you are, wherever you're at
- Relational - caring for and learning from each other
- Transforming - applying God's truth to bring about change
- Innovative - showing God's relevance in a challenging world
- Fun loving - enjoying God with enthusiasm
MBC’s five values are also three memorable ways to live. We are invited to live out our MBC values day-by-day, throughout each week, as we go about our normal lives, being God’s blessing to our families, friends, neighbours and work-mates. What exactly might these “lived values” look like in daily life?
M - Move closer to God this week
How? By hearing God speaking to me through his Spirit and changing me through daily Bible reading, using a scripture calendar, prayer, listening to a friend's testimony or the mp3 recording of a recent sermon at MBC...
Why? To learn something new about God, to allow God to modify my deep-seated views and attitudes through his Word, to be challenged by God to change my behaviour and lifestyle to become more Christ-like.
B - Bless someone in a practical way this week
How? I could invite a neighbour for a cup of coffee or a meal, give a lift in my car, lend a hand, mow a lawn, babysit, offer to pray for someone in need...
Why? So that I can demonstrate the love of Jesus and bring a taste of the grace and generosity of God's kingdom into someone else’s life.
C - Celebrate God in community this week
How? Through attending a Sunday worship service, my MBC small group, Sparklets, a communal or extended family meal…
Why? To demonstrate that God is a God of community, who loves and cares for everyone and wishes to enrich their lives.
